Even though you can feel the indifference in between, if you just chose to ignore the unimportant and just focus on your goal, life would be easier. Indeed, I'm not the same person I used to be, but I like the transformation, makes me feel more confident and good about myself. I don't force myself to be "in" anymore. I used to have this achy feeling that I have to belong to a certain group or league so I would be judged according to my liking or expectation.

At this stage of my life, I am just confident to show you who I am, whether you like it or not. I guess, I don't go with the "crowd" like I used to be. Its like I learned to conserve my energy - saving only for things that really matters. I really feel good. I really do.

I guess I am slowly breaking-off from the family "curse" after all.

Nathan's 6th birthday ....

Nathan celebrated his 6th birthday last October 3, 2008. And what I have found so far is not so bad.

Take vacation getaways as an example. It’s so surprising to know that around Singapore, there are cheap but heavenly vacation spots like Bintan and Genting. With their vacation packages, room rates, I can plan vacation getaways and still smile as it won’t burn our bank account as much as our previous vacations before.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and   clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you   to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Sometimes, it would really just melt your heart when you hear the words " I don't want to go to school anymore Mom." But we always have to remember there's always a reason behind the bullying.

Yes, to answer your question, my "unico hijo" has been bullied so many times in school, especially by girls. At first of course, I don't like the sound of it. I somehow taught him how to stand-up against bullies. (Hey, I don't want my son to be a push-over!) LOL!

But, on the contrary, what we're really trying to instill into his being is to be a thinker, not to be a mindless attacker. We can see the difference every time he is with other kids. He always observes. Whenever there are kids fighting, he would look at them and then to us. There's always a look of questioning on his face.

Anyway, I taught him how to stand-up against bullies (its not a violent approach, don't worry) but there's one thing I always neglect to do before that. I didn't asked him about the situation. So finally, after months and months of blubbering about those bullies - by the way he gets really irritated - he would say "Mama, its really irritating already! - , last Saturday, we (this time Harold was with us) finally asked the right question to solve the problem - "Why? What happened? What were you guys doing?" Then he told us the most unexpected reason why those girls keep on bugging him - the reason was because he doesn't want to play with them but still, the girls keeps on following him (by the way, the girls are "Anastasia, Stephanie and Andrea") - then Anastasia said. "Because you're handsome what! And you're my boyfriend!" Guess how old that little girl is ... 5 years - as his age! I was like laughing so hard after that ... the fact that I felt furious every time he tell stories about the bullying.

Now, the case was solved finally. We just told him to be friendly with those girls because they like him. As we all know, boys at his age doesn't really like playing with little girls.

So parents, please do try to talk to your little ones. They are packed with surprises that will surely make your day. :D

Boy, as I look at my husband after that - "it looks like we're going to have major problems when he reach his adolescent stage" ... (hmmmm - worried Mom!)

Selfish Acts

Its not too busy here at work so I can spare some time blogging. Its better than doing absolutely nothing, at least I can kill some of this dull moments I have.

So what am I gonna blog this time? oh yeah ... Selfish Acts

Have you ever met someone whereby whatever you do, they always find something awful about it? Some words you utter about them, even though you don't mean anything harm, they will still make you feel like you hurt them in any way? Its like they want to make you feel that you have to do everything you can to make them happy or you owe it to them. LOL! I don't know if you will agree with me but its one of the characteristics of a self-absorbed individual. And its an awful trait to have.

With my life as full-packed as now, I guess I don't have the space anymore to entertain such drama. Its ok if its a positive drama wherein someone is asking for help, etc . etc .. but its not. Its all about negativity and the thoughts of negativeness. Even for a bit, I pity that person, because she made me think maybe her life dwells on that side. I blogged once before about dwelling on negative thoughts - its something like that.

Yes. I have met yet, another person quite like this. At first, I let things slide. I make moves which I hoped would somehow break the bad blood but nothing good came out of it.

Well, I guess, my efforts not going any further than where it is right now so I might as well give up this early. At least I tried and hoped for the best.

Its just that, life is difficult and complex as it is, I do not need strangers acting like as if they are damn too important to be noticed! Am I right? OR am I right?

Some things in this Life

Its been two years since I came back as a full-time working wife and mom. I would say its not easy but there's this feeling of completeness at the end of the day - well, of course together with the feeling of exhaustion. LOL!

But lately, Nathan keeps on saying he wish that I would just wait for him at home just like before. Well, when I was still a stay-at-home mom, I would just wait for him downstairs to come home via their school bus.

Then out of the blue, he would tell me that he like my home-cooked meals. Because now, before I fetch him from school, I would buy take-out dinner for the three of us. Well, its not from fast-food or anything unhealthy - its still the same as if I cook it at home - but he would say, he like mine better. Isn't he the sweetest?!

Sometimes, he would just melt my heart and leave me speechless. Sometimes, if I hear him say those words, as if I just want to let-go of everything I would like to do outside our home and just be there -- as he wishes.

My wish is that - I wish "its that simple". We've attended this pro-family gathering at the Big Splash playground in the East Coast Park (ECP). It was our first time to attend to such kind of get-together especially when we do not know everybody else but as it turned-out, we've had one of those great moments together as a family. Nathan had a blast! He had to ride on those mini-water boats with pedals. The mini-F1 car was also a treat for him. We were so thrilled watching him ride that toy car. He would do his car tricks just like what he always do whenever he play his PS3 games.

The day ended with the movie screening of Ratatouille by the beach. You can bet that almost all of the people had already seen the movie including us but the fun is just the same. Her body is still under autopsy. The authorities found her lifeless body inside her bathroom, clothed but covered with blood. I imagined its like a movie scene from CSI ...

We heard the news through a text message from our Aunt back home. I was a bit shock upon reading it because she was not that old yet, maybe around 50 plus. The last time I saw her, that was 2 years ago, she was still strong, I can tell by the strength of her massage. But upon learning how they found her ... that was something else.

She was my husband's family masseuse - a bone-setter. She was already working with my In-laws even before I became part of the family. Somehow, she was already part of the family. She would spend some of the Christmas eves before ... working all of us, from the eldest of the family (the grandma - 83 yrs old) to the youngest - as young as a newborn baby.

*************

May you rest in peace Tita Thelma. After she was back from the States, their condo unit was gone and so does her husband. She doesn't have any place to live so she was forced to live with her sister and the boyfriend. When she asked her husband about her personal stuff, he told her to send him her current address and he will arrange for all the stuff to be delivered at her doorstep. Just like that and everything was over. Maybe I missed some important details that might triggered the separation, especially from the husband's point of view but whose relationship is perfect anyway?

Although this kind of news is not really shocking nor scandalous nowadays, I was still a bit shock. They looked so good and inlove together. During their civil wedding, me and my husband were the only witness who signed on their marriage contract. That is why I really feel sorry for them. I befriended the wife because our husbands were high school classmates and friends.

During my conversation with the wife, of course the "7 year itch" thing was obviously brought up. She told me she was not sure, obviously, she cannot think properly or a bit disoriented becuase of what just happened between them.

Me, myself, I dont really understand this "seven year itch" thing nor does my husband believe there's such a thing. So I actually googled that and found this answers from wiki.answers.com:

Answer

Supposedly, after being married for seven years or just being with someone for that long, you start looking at other options. Hence you have an itch to scratch. In layman's terms, one is expected to leave/cheat at this time.

Answer

All along you saw signs but you ignore them or you were too busy to act on them, and after seven years you finally realized what you missed and try to change it.

Well, I dont know what to say ...I might say married life is really hardwork. In the first place, you chose that person to be your lifetime partner ... (maybe its a different thing if that person was chosen for you) ... but if you did choose him/her over the others before, why a change of heart? Was it you were "blindfolded" when everything was still going on? Or you are really looking for someone else, that's why suddenly you realized you were not meant for each other? And that suddenly all the flaws become visible?

Isn't it that husband and wife should work together, grow together, learn from each other, etc.etc ... to make the family grow stronger and be more stable? Isn't that's the meaning of the "Power of Two"?

For the past two years, at least 3 pairs of couples close to me had gone through this awful conclusion. Well, at least one couple out of those 3 pairs had already reconciled, still, I really feel sad and of course a bit troubled, that's why eventhough its really hard to accept someone else's expectations, weaknesses and imperfections, I am trying really hard to cover all these. I am one of those traditional women whom separation/divorce/annulment is the least of the least of my options. Emotional investment is the hardest of all, I can't bear to do it all over again to another person.

Home - Work :

Just to update you guys, last week was my first week in my new company. Everything went well. Oh well, a bit boring because we, the newbies, spent the whole week on the orientation program. Lots of meetings with most of the bosses, familiarization with the organizational chart, company's humble beginnings, previous, current and future projects. A bit boring but really educational, you will get to really admire and respect the Japanese. This is a Japanese-owned transnational company. I immediately noticed how they instill the sense of responsibility and loyalty among their employees. Most of their old staffs counted years of service already, which means the employee turnovers are low. I think they are bringing in new staff because they are expanding not because somebody resigned or were terminated.

Oh well, I am just a week-old with them, its too early to really tell but base on the current situation, I might consider staying longer with them than my previous companies. They offer loads of opportunities and career advancements, its really up to the employee if he/she wants to stay with his/her current role or request for transfer to another. I'm really thankful to God because of this.

About our new place, I am still on the stage of checking whether everything works well. Sad to say, even though they've renovated the kitchen and the toilet & bath, there are still things that needs to be done. We are still running on our first month so the landlord will get to pay for everything. But after the first month, everything will be borne by us, the tenants. That's how they do it here in Singapore. Well, so far so good. The landlord and our house agent are cooperative so everything is running smoothly, to say the least.

So everything is doing great! I hope your's too! Have a wonderful day everyday! Cheers!!! :D

New buzz around -

I found this new full internet upgrade technology which they say will about to upgrade the entire internet to Web 2.0 standards. Thank God its over!

And guess what ... We are going to Afond Spa again this Friday. Here are some of the reasons:

First, I wanna talk about me as a working woman:

So, my last official day here in my current company is on May 26, 2008. I will be starting my new endeavour this coming June and I'm really hoping this is the one. Its really hard to change fields but as if everything is moving on the right direction now. After months and months of hard work, tears, heartaches and more heartaches, things are looking bright and sparkling. Everything is planned already, well, of course with the approval of the Almighty Father above, unless He has other plans for me. The hardest part I have to do is to start from scratch since I was out from the workforce for almost three years, ... I stopped working because I chose to be a full-time housewife and mum after Nathan was born. My work experience then was not yet impressive enough, I was just so lucky to be employed on big companies such as Procter and Gamble. So, like what I've said, I have to start from scratch, even taking-up my current job (well for me, its way too simple) but of course, learning is everywhere no matter where you are or what you do. I know I learned a lot and really thankful I was given the opportunity to be a part of this company. I was exposed to a Singaporean workplace. I was given a glimpse on how Singaporean's interact with each other, their work ethics, business development ideas, problem-solving techniques, personal values and much much more. I would say I acquired some technical values which will help me both in personal and career life. And for that I am really grateful. But of course, I also get to see some undesirable things which for several times, triggered the "Bull" inside of me to come out, but I think its just a matter of what you want to process ... as what they say, "You have to take the good with the bad."

Next - Our Moving Day!

Its going to be on the 15th of this month. Gosh, because for some time now, I am trying to imitate Wonder Woman who can do everything, so I have to do all the packing, and I'm gonna pack the whole house! I only have 2 weeks left and tomorrow is the site visit to assess how much it will gonna cost us because we have to hire the services of a Moving company. Now, I am regretting because my husband told me before not to buy things until we have our very own house - yeah, I guess he's right. But what can I do, I'm sure wives out there know what I mean. LOL!

Third - Things at Work

And its making me crazy already. Tons of paper work to do. I couldn't even afford to have my lunch because of this work load! I missed my graduation day (for my Human Resource course) yesterday because of this and I'm kind of disappointed because that was my chance of expanding my HR network. By the way, of course I got "Distinction" as my overall mark for the course and will be taking up the diploma course soon. Oh, well, I haven't decided if I'm gonna take Human Resource or Psychology degree.

So, that's only a quarter of my Adrenalin Rush this days, but I guess, I like this kind of lifestyle. It pushes me forward, stay young and happy, with a supportive husband and an adorable son.

Ways to Save Money on Food

With the rising cost of everything, every penny counts. I bet there are so many households out there finding ways to save money. Consider me as one of those who are not conscious about the price tags whenever I go shopping and dining - out but prices now are really sky-rocketing! Its about time to cut back on those unwise spending galore and find ways to save. Surfing the net, I stumble upon this website with simple ways to cut back on those unnecessary and avoidable spending on little things. For me, some of their suggestions will cause me much inconvenience since I am a working wife and mother in a foreign country without a maid or a relative nearby, but if it will really help, why not.

Ways to Save Money on Food

People who do not know how much they spend on groceries each month are twenty times more likely to be over their heads in debt than those who know exactly how much they spend on food each month. Those struggling with debt are always surprised that when they keep a record of every food-related purchase made for a month, including dining out, fast food stops, vending machines, etc., and realize just how much they spending. The fast food lunches and Starbuck coffee purchases really add up. This money could be better used to pay down debt instead.

If you kept a record of every penny your family spent on food, including dining out and fast food purchases for two months, you might be surprised to discover just how much you're wasting on unnecessary items, too, such as prepackaged or ready to eat meals and such. It is recommend that you keep a record of what your family spends on food for a two month period so you can determine how to reduce your monthly food budget.

Of course, everyone has to eat, but there are ways you can reduce your food budget significantly. Tips are as follows:

Stop eating out -- This one is a no-brainer and doesn't really need an explanation. Dinners you prepare at home are significantly less expensive than meals you pay someone else to prepare.

Don't buy frozen meals -- If you empty the contents of a frozen dinner onto a plate you will quickly realize that you are getting very little food for what you are paying. Do you realize you are paying $300 a pound for that tiny bit of veggies on the side? If you lead a busy lifestyle, set aside a weekend afternoon to make your own frozen dinners and meals prepared from scratch.

Don't buy pre-cut meats -- You are paying a premium for the supermarket to cut up your meat and chicken for you. Doing the cutting yourself will save you about $1 per pound or $223 per year for the average family of four.

Compare supermarkets -- Don't shop at the closest supermarket just because it's more convenient. Driving a mile or two down the road can save you as much as $50 per week on groceries. You might find that products you routinely buy at one supermarket are priced as much as $1 or $2 less than they are at another supermarket. One should also compare the unit prices on the store shelves to find the better bargain. For example, many people assume you get a better deal if you buy more product, but often the unit price reveals that buying the 8 oz. instead of the 12 oz. is more economical.

Buy generic -- Generic and store-brand products are often processed at the same plants as name brand products, but they are much cheaper because they aren't advertised. A significant portion of the price you pay for a name brand product is to cover the high cost of advertising it in the various media. This is why name brand breakfast cereals cost $1 or $2 more than the generic brand and why Tylenol or Bayer pain relievers cost $3 or $4 more than the generic brand that isn't advertised. Stop paying for all those television commercials and print ads and you will save more than $500 per year.

Buy day-old bread -- The bread at the day-old bakery is almost as good as the bread in the supermarket, yet it is half the price of fresh. Visit a day-old bakery and stock up on bread and other products you can freeze and use later. How much you can save depends on how much bread you consume.

Buy in season -- There are times when the supermarket is practically giving away fruits and vegetables and other times when they cost a fortune. Buy fruits and vegetables in season and only if they are reasonably priced. Learn to enjoy fruits and vegetables that are available year-round at a low cost, such as bananas and carrots. You might be able to find coupons for products you do use online by visiting Yahoo.com and typing "coupons" in the search form. Of course, the down side about finding coupons online is that you must register and disclose your name and contact information in order to get the coupon and free sample. (For this reason, you shouldn't give them your real e-mail address unless you want to receive dozens of spam e-mails every day. Use a free Yahoo e-mail account to register. Also, take into consideration what they might do with your telephone number before you register, perhaps sell it to telemarketers). Good coupon websites: CoolSavings.com -- Coupons.com -- StartSampling.com. There are literally dozens of websites you can visit and register to receive coupons. Often, you can register to receive coupons and free samples just by typing the name of the product in the URL locator, such as www.tide.com; www.dole.com; www.pepsi.com, www.pampers.com, etc.

Leave the kids at home -- Caving in to pressure from crying children begging for certain cereals, snacks and toys adds, on average $6 to $20 to the weekly grocery bill. Leave them at home and buy only what your family needs.

Article Source: http://www.bcsalliance.com/

TSM's One Indulgence

If you're gonna ask me of one of the indulgences I couldn't resist in this life of mine, well apart from my dear husband and adorable son ... its the Japanese cuisine! Hahahaha ...

There's one Japanese restaurant we regularly dine-in to ... Sakae Sushi. Dont be surprised if I tell you we are one of its VIP card holders, of course, we are loyal customers!

I know there are lots of Japanese restaurants here but for me their menu is superb and really affordable. Their Hana Maki and Sashimi are heavenly, Ah! The Ebi Fry and Soft Shell Crab hand rolls are irresistible. At lunch I finally got the chance to laze around and browse a little. I just received this astrology mail for the nth time and this time the topic is about couples. So, I did some browsing and found this zodiac couple matches. So, the following is our profile. Sometimes, this astrology and zodiac stuff really amazes me ...

Touchy and Feely

Fixed Earth and Cardinal Water

These two are reserved at first, and want to take their time getting to know each other while dating. They're both looking for a sure thing, and won't rush pell mell into romance. Taurus loves the sensual pleasures, not least of which is eating, and Cancer is all too eager to indulge along with them. After the first fifty lowkey dates, there may be subtle, indirect overtures of affection. Once the floodgates are open, these two are cozy lovers happy to root in one spot.

Taurus is looking for material security, Cancer for emotional security and visions of a shared future start to emerge, perhaps a dream home. Taurus is possessive, but Cancer doesn't mind, and might even secretly consider it a show of love. The steady, loyal nature of Taurus fulfills the Cancerian longing for something enduring. Both are fairly domestic, and happy to land somewhere and start accumulating things, kids and memories.

The ritual of making and sharing meals together can be an important aspect of their relationship. They're compatible in the bedroom, as well, since they bring together the physical sensuality of Taurus with the emotional depth of Cancer. This is a match that may get off to a slow start, but stays together for the long haul. - Astrology.com

In this partnership, Cancer will want to understand every nuance of the Taurus personality and will make the Taurus native fell as though he or she is the most important thing in the life of the Cancer individual...however, Cancer will expect the same. This pair share a mutual strength in terms of domestic impulses and will devote much time and effort to a home and children. The Taurus partner will never have to worry about being taken for granted by the quiet and moody Cancer native. Being a dreamer by nature, Cancer is sure to place Taurus on a pedestal and always expect nothing less than perfection. Consequently, when the flaws begin to show, Cancer will become disappointed and retreat into his or her infamous shell. Since Taurus is not the most tactful of Zodiac Signs, he or she will clumsily attempt to coax Cancer's emergence, resulting in the Cancer partner retreating even further. Cancer needs and demands...usually in a pouting manner...a plethera of sympathy and those governed by Taurus do possess a nurturing instinct for providing that. Thus, this pair may get along better than might be expected. On occasion, the nerve of the Cancer partner will fail him or her, but with an abundance of support and backing from the Taurus individual, Cancer should be able to face life...and may even be successful in personal endeavors, should any be tried. This is a union that can and will improve with age and hard work. These are two persons with such different personalities that in many ways, the strength of one partner will lend support to overcome the weakness of the other. The physical side of any relationship for a Cancer native will very much depend on what transpired earlier that same evening. If there was an argument or some other unpleasantness, then Cancer is unlikely to be in the mood for intimacy...and if Taurus is subjected to this type of treatment too often, it will certainly drive a wedge between the couple. Still, if both partners here are willing to give rather than get, this could be a match of some longevity.

Basically, this is usually a very good combination. These Signs are two apart within the Zodiac Wheel and such a position tends to indicate a sharing of karmic ties and a deep mutual understanding. In addition, there is much in common here. Both individuals prize security in a love relationship above almost anything else and both are prone to be nurturers...Cancer being emotionally nurturing while Taurus relishes in spoiling a sweetheart with sensual delights, gifts and excellent meals. Both these Signs are somewhat domestic by nature and thus, will enjoy a quiet night spent at home in each other's company. In short, this has an excellent chance of being a happy union, courtesy of the mutual fondness for security and the comforts of home. In this pairing, there is often found the ideal family that those governed by other Signs of the Zodiac strive to attain. This will be a union that is family-oriented rather than directed toward the outside world. The only major problems likely to arise are if the Taurus partner insists on having his or her own way and Cancer responds by sulking. Thus, it is important that the Taurus native understand Cancer's emotional sensitivity. In turn, the Cancer partner needs to rely on open and honest communication instead of resorting to emotional blackmail.

Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus and Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Both these celestial bodies vibrate with feminine energy. Cancer often keeps emotions bottled up and simmering inside, which can lead to the occasional boil-over and this is probably why Cancer is so attracted to the open, honest and unafraid nature associated with those governed by Taurus. As the Moon controls the tides of Earth, quietly affecting all life, so does Cancer, manipulating things behind the scenes. Natives of Cancer are prone to be sentimental and each partner in this pairing will prefer to enjoy each other rather than socializing with large groups. Taurus is governed by the element of Earth while Cancer is governed by the element of Water. Earth and Water are basically compatible as tangible, physicial energies. Influenced by Water, Cancer is born to nurture those Signs ruled by Earth...akin to manner in which rain nurtures the soil and helps crops to grow. In turn, Taurus has a more stable view of life and is less prone to emotional turmoil. Hence, Taurus can help Cancer stablilize tumultuous feelings. Still, both Signs need to be careful in this relationship. The Taurus partner may tire of Cancer's mood swings, causing the Cancer partner to believe that Taurus is insensitive to his or her needs. Taurus is Fixed in quality and Cancer is Cardinal. The habits of Taurus are well-nigh rigid and an opinion once formed will not be changed. This can provide the Cancer native with an emotional rock since Taurus is totally dedicated to the relationship. In return, the Cancer individual can bring new inspiration to the union, beginning new projects that Taurus will undoubtedly enjoy taking over at a later point in time. Basically, these two make for a steady and reliable team. Both Taurus and Cancer are dependable and nurturing Signs, strongly oriented toward domestic life together. A mutual love of home and security could easily result in an ideal family union of some considerable longevity.

In essence, this combination is a very favourable match. Cancer likes a good home with much affection and this is exactly what Taurus hopes to find when embarking upon a relationship. On the emotional side, there is nothing to stop the prospect of a happy and long term union between this pair. However, it is important that the Taurus partner remember that Cancer is very sensitive and is prone to close within himself or herself if emotionally unhappy. -- Novareinna.com

My Island Home -

<img style="cursor: pointer; They are on school holiday and since we don't have a nanny, me and my husband had to take turns on looking after him. After my husband went off for work, I just did a little bit of my house chores, while my son was busy doing his stuff like drawing and writing and making paper aeroplanes. After the chores, I sat down with him, he was still busy on his drawings but upon realizing I was sitting in front of him, just staring on what his doing, he immediately stopped and looked at me and asked, "Mama, do you want me to tell you a story?". I replied, "Of course, what's the story about?" And then he went on and on and on and on ... giggling, laughing, full of energy. I noticed every time he made me laugh, he would even try harder to be funny. I just sat there just listening and watching him, I can feel his excitement because he knew he had my full attention. I was actually looking him straight in the eye while he narrated his story.

It really struck me. I never really knew how big-a-deal it was for Nathan to have my full attention on him. He was rather a very good boy that day, everything I asked of him, I don't have to say twice ... he would immediately follow without any tantrums, arguments and negotiations. I think its his way of saying "Thank you Mom for giving me your time today!" I was teary eyed last night while I was telling this to my husband.

We always run like crazy people everyday that sometimes we overlook the needs of our kids. We look around in search for things that would make us happy like buying expensive junks, yeah, it will just make us happy for awhile but at that moment, just meeting Nathan's eyes really gave me unequal amount of happiness right through the deepest part of my heart. I am really glad we had that day and from now on, I will strive to be like that every single day.

A Parent's Guide to Immunisation

I was on medical leave this afternoon, and to claim this benefit, I have to present a valid medical certificate signed by a Singapore-registered doctor. While I was waiting for my call at the clinic's waiting area, I saw a leaflet about common and major diseases among children. And since I am a mom, it caught my interest (mom's over-protectiveness instinct! LOL!) and was quick to grab one of course. My son is 5 years old already, obviously, he completed all the vaccinations needed, just going for the boosters every now and then. I do hope the following information maybe of help to everyone especially to those whose got infants and very young children and to first time parents as well.

*******************************
Infants and children face many potential dangers from various infectious diseases that can harm their physical and mental development. Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (or 'whooping cough'), Hepatitis B, Polio and Hib diseases all can lead to potentially serious health complications in children and can eventually lead to severe illness, complications or death.

Understanding the Major Infectious Diseases:

Diphtheria begins as a sore and swollen throat due to bacterial infections which can cause obstructions to breathing and damage to the heart. Resulting complications may even be life-threatening.

Tetanus often begins with the clamping together of the jaw (hence the name "lockjaw"). There is severe muscle spasm involving many parts of the body, including the muscles responsible for breathing and swallowing. Complications from Tetanus are often fatal.

Pertussis or Whooping Cough typically starts like an ordinary cold. This is accompanied by runny nose leading to prolonged bouts of coughing which are characterised by a whooping sound. Often the whooping cough can cause the child to vomit or even turn blue from lack of air. A child with whooping cough can have difficulty eating, drinking, or even breathing. Whooping cough can cause serious complications like pneumonia, seizures or brain problems. In serious cases, even death may occur.

Polio or Poliomyelitis is a viral infection that can be transmitted easily through contaminated food or water. The disease typically affects very young children, with 80 - 90% of cases occurring in children under 3 years of age. In the majority of cases the disease produces only mild symptoms like fever, sore throat and nausea. However, if the virus enters the brain and spinal cord, the disease may result in paralysis especially of the child's leg muscles.

Hib disease is caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b bacteria. The bacteria causes several serious, often life - threatening illnesses including bacterial meningitis which may cause mental retardation in young children. The same Hib bacteria can also cause pneumonia or epiglottitis (the inflammation of the windpipe). Hib is transmitted through airborne saliva droplets or secretions, similar to how the common cold is spread. It can enter the blood stream and cause life-threatening infections like meningitis, pneumonia and epiglottitis. Although the word 'influenzae' is part of the scientific name, Hib is not related to the virus that causes the respiratory infection generally known as 'flu'.

Hepatitis B is a serious disease caused by the Hepatitis B virus. It can lead to complications, including chronic hepatitis (persistent liver inflammation), liver cirrhosis (hardening of the liver), liver failure and liver cancer. The virus is spread through the blood or other body fluids such as saliva, semen or vaginal secretions from people who are infected or are carrying the Hepatitis B virus. The virus is often also passed from mother to baby, usually at the time of birth.

Vaccination Saves Lives

Fortunately, effective vaccines are available that can protect you and loved ones against these dangers. In particular, combined vaccines against Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis are established as part of a routine paediatric vaccination practise.

Moving-out : Moving-in

Finally, we've got a new house. After weeks and weeks of house hunting ... Eureka! We really feel good about it for couple of reasons ... first, its spacious and they're going to do major renovations before we move-in, so much it would feel like its really a brand new house (thanks to the previous tenants who were not so much of a clean freaks) ... 2nd, its just right across my son's kindergarten school (now, we can ditch the school bus and save the money!) ... and last but not the least, its just right on our budget! God really provides and the fact that He gave us a good house agent. That's why I can't wait to move-in ... just so you know, our schedule is end of this month.

Gosh, thinking about the major packing that we are going to do ... redirection of mails, internet connection, etc. etc .... but what the heck, its all done online (ooppss .. only the redirections not the packing - hahahaha!).

By the way, just to update you, if you read my previous post, "selling house", I mentioned that our current flat is up for sale. Well guess what, after two weeks, flat's been sold to a small family. Thank God, we don't have to deal with this open-house viewing thing anymore until we move-out.

Friendship and Love

Friendship is a special kind of caring ... special moments shared ... We all know that they easily sway away especially when its windy. So, take a look at this picture. If you think I photoshopped this, think again or better yet, go ahead and test it.This image was taken last November 4, 2007 at 6:39 AM - Singapore time. Our rented unit then was located on the 5th floor of an HDB building.

Now, this next image is a little bit freaky. Its like a giant monster cloud devouring those trees. This was also captured from the same location I mentioned above but this was taken on March 21, 2007 at 6:22 PM - Singapore time. Maybe, I didn't managed to take the shot from the perfect angle but if you had seen this, a bit strange and scary.

Actually, I think I have quite a collection of this amusing cloud formations, its just that I do not know or I forgot where I saved them. I am not into sports movie like this but I fell in love with this one. For me the story line is superb. I like the way the writer conveyed his thoughts about having dreams and you, grabbing the "steering wheel", taking control of your destiny.

It sums up life as it is. Why? The story is about how complicated life can be. It is full of ups and downs and yet you can still push sideways, front ways ... on any other ways. The important thing is your attitude towards a certain situation, how you handle your everyday struggle. And not just circumstances but also with people, because there are people out there who will always bring you down no matter how hard you try. But then again, there are great friendships formed in an unexpected dimension.

It also showed what matters in life once you are already on the top of your game. Once you have everything, you can be blinded with success that sometimes you forget what really matters. Is it money? properties? cars? fame? or your relationship to other people especially to those you love?

I like the casting. The actors are not A-lists but as if they were born to fill those roles. Bunch of beautiful people were included like David Beckham (Goal 2), so it was really fun watching! :D

You should watch it, just in case you haven't. There are movies which are just worth watching in the cinema or even wait for it on HBO or Star Movies or whatever movie cable channel you're subscribed to ... but for me, this movie is worth adding in your DVD or Blu-Ray collection because you will never get tired of watching it over and over again.

And it looks like the fun is not over yet ... I think there is Goal 3! :D

Singapore Airshow Featured Boeing A380 Airbus

We attended this Singapore Airshow last February 23 at Changi Airbase. So far so good, they've showcased fantastic air shows but for me, the highlight of that spectacular event was the A380 Boeing Airbus.

The A380 happens to be the largest passenger jet ever built and of course, the Singapore Airlines was the first one to fly it.

Currently, Singapore Airlines is flying three A380s. Two of which flies to Sydney, Australia and the 3rd is to London Heathrow airport.

I'm sorry but I cannot pass the chance of taking the picture of this giant aircraft without me in it. :D

A little trivia about Boeing's A380:

The Airbus A380 is truly a giant. It has a wingspan of 261.8 feet (79.8 meters), a length of 239.5 feet (73 meters) and a maximum take-off weight of more than 1.2 million pounds (540,000 kg).

The Cost of Greatness

Airbus has spent an estimated $15 billion on the development of the A380. The price for a single plane is listed at $300 million. Industry experts point out that airlines rarely pay full list price, especially if they order large numbers of planes, so it is difficult to determine exactly how many planes Airbus needs to sell to recoup the development costs. It's important to remember that a new airplane design will be modified and upgraded for decades -- Airbus has said that it's looking toward 2020 in designing the A380. The Boeing 747 has been flying since 1970.

For more details of A380, check-out this website: http://travel.howstuffworks.com/a380.htm

Find your "Cup of Tea"

Everyone of us is good at something. Some are fortunate enough to discover it while they were young and had the chance to enhance those skills to reach their maximum potential. But there are also some who cannot find what they are looking for. And that really sucks. Its like you are in a new place wandering around without a map. You keep on going on circles, a non-stop cycle of going back and forth and no matter how hard you try, you cannot see your destination. Even though you ask around, nobody can show you the right way because you yourself cannot describe the place you are looking for.

Finding the one thing you are good at is finding half of yourself. It is your flag to the world, the one thing that you can raise and show without the feeling of shame or awkwardness because you know whatever you do and whoever challenges you, you will always succeed because that is your territory, that is your zen, that is your soul. Sharing it to the world is like saying out loud that you are here, you matter, you are important, you are alive.

Finding such thing is like having a brand new pair of eyes, because before that, you were psychologically "blind". You see the world as a different place. You see the beauty in it, you hear every opportunity, you see all the solution. It is easier to live, easier to breathe. Not like when you were still "blind", all you see were stumbling blocks, problems and agonies.

So don't stop until you find it. It will make you feel complete, the kind of person that God hoped you to be. Because you see, when you are complete already, that's the only time you will feel the very essence of sharing everything that you have inside. Be it love, happiness, fulfillment, peace of mind ... its not impossible because you all have it.

Just like what I've said, finding where you're good at is one way of finding yourself because while you are looking for it, you are only half of who you really are.

How Children Learn

Nurture and Teach

The single most important thing caregivers can do for a child is provide a nurturing environment. By doing this, we influence children’s brain development and their ability to learn. Introducing nurtured children to learning opportunities every day will help them become happy, well-adjusted adults. In all stages of child development, each experience builds on the one before it. The most basic foundations can serve as the basis for the comprehension of more complex ideas in future years.

Learning Begins at Birth

We are born with billions of brain cells – in fact, all we will ever have. What is missing is a large amount of connections – synapses – between those brain cells. Synapses start developing based on a child’s experiences. Children’s brains develop faster from birth to age three than any other time; and more learning takes place during this time than any other. The more learning opportunities parents provide for their children from birth until school age, the more synapses are made. The connections will serve as a pool of knowledge for a child to access in later years.

Because children’s earliest experiences affect how they will think, learn and behave, helping children learn from birth to school age is a crucial activity. Parents and other caregivers can create a strong foundation for learning by providing a nurturing and rich learning environment from the very beginning.

Children Seek Learning Experiences

Not only do children need to be physically active, it is their nature to look for opportunities to learn. They participate in learning by using their senses and asking countless questions in order to more fully understand the task at hand.

Creating a Learning Environment

Children enjoy learning when they can master an activity. Begin with a simple task and expand or complicate it after your child has enjoyed some successes.

Create a safe and secure learning environment. This will help children do their best learning rather than distract them. Key to creating this environment is treating your child with respect and caring.

Where Do Children Learn?

Children learn everywhere from school to the doctor’s office to the grocery store. As do adults, children learn from interacting with others and watching their parents’ behavior. Kids are highly influenced by the people in their lives, especially adults who they are close to.

Not All Children Learn in the Same Way

In the book Frame of Mind, Howard Gardner described his theory of multiple intelligences. We all have a certain way we prefer to learn. The seven multiple intelligences Gardner points to are interpersonal, intrapersonal, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, musical, logical-mathematical and linguistic. We have the most success teaching our children when we can recognize their style of learning (as well as our style of teaching) and incorporate activities accordingly.

Playing and Learning

The main way children collect and process information is through play. Play is the repetition that reinforces old skills and encourages new ones. Because play is enjoyable, children’s minds are open. Children are capable of much learning through play because they are very receptive and relaxed. Take advantage of this benefit and select activities that are fun and educational. Your children will learn, and you will both enjoy the experience.

Author: Shelley Ruiz (www.magiclarklearning.com)
Article Source: http://www.articlecity.com/

Child's Creativity

Parents and teachers can and do have an effect on child's creativity. Creativity may be more influenced by environmental rather than genetic factors. In fact,it is promoted through the maintenance of a playful, jovial atmosphere that allows and supports the unconventional but at the same time distinguishes and elaborates on what is appropriate and useful. It develops when examples of different approaches are analyzed. It is more likely to thrive when adults express the idea that any problem can be worked out.

A characteristic noted about creative individuals that is worth mentioning is persistence. Those who display creativity often stick with an idea or problem well beyond at time when others get frustrated and quit. To assist your child to be more persistent, focus on conveying two attitudes. First, reflect the belief that no problem is essentially difficult. With further information or a change in strategy, perspective or persistence, any problem can be solved. Secondly, underline the concept that failure is a term related to situations, not people. Failure indicates a temporary state of affairs and only means that another method or more information and practice are needed.

Creativity is unique and the best way to recognize a child's creativity is to create a craft room.It facilitates a child not only explore it's talent but have fun as well. One has to plan this room in a way that the child loves being there and is stimulated to do some activity, craft and art to develop creativity and keep boredom away.

Child's creativity can be nurtured even as a toddler. It requires a great amount of time, patience and planning to keep toddlers occupied even for some time. The setting of the décor where the little one spends most of it's time should be pleasant. The wall should have stickers or murals of his/her favourite cartoon characters and the ceiling should be covered with glow stars or something of similar sort. This will work out during the story time when the child is put to sleep. The furniture should be placed at a height that can be reached by the child. The toys, craft materials etc can be placed in a place where the child can reach whenever he/she wants. It makes him/her independent and raises hi/her level of confidence as well as keeps him/her busy. Small children love scribbling on the wall. Border the scribbling with a wooden frame .It will look as though the little one's creation is framed.

When the child is slightly older, say around five to seven years of age, one wall of a room could be devoted to the child entirely. It could be left blank for the child to scribble on it, paint ,write poems or draw whatever he/she likes. Let the young one personalize it in any way he/she likes. If the child prefers, paint a story on the wall to fire his/her imagination. At this age, children at present spend their leisure hours playing games on the computer. The time allotted to play these games must be strictly monitored. The child must be encouraged to pick up a book, read it, and even narrate the story. They should be given a topic on which they can draw or create something using their imagination. Encourage letter writing which not only improves communication skills but also helps the child to keep in touch with relatives and friends. Craft items such as painting with wet paints, sticking certain pictures and creating a collage etc can bring out the creative genius in these children while keeping them busy. Board games can be handy when friends and classmates come along. These can be kept within easy reach on open shelves that can be reached by the children. If time permits, this is the right age to introduce the child to an adult game like chess.

To conclude in order to develop a child's creativity, expose him/her to a diversity of cultures, experiences, people, and ways of thinking. Make them aware of the fact that there are different ways to think about a problem. Instill confidence in the child to try new experiences within his/her age level abilities and expectations.

Author: Mary Rose
Article Source: www.articlecity.com

When you're landlady decides to sell her house ...

I have never experienced this open-view house thing with our previous landlord so I don't have any idea how frustrating and irritating this thing might be. I never realized how long has it been since the last time we saw each other. I also realized how disconnected I am to my friends, my real friends. So we went to this bar & grill restaurant at Vivo City, gosh, I can't remember the restaurant name, it was my first time to go there. The food was ok, nothing special that would separate itself from the rest of the other restaurants that serves the same menu. Maybe that's why I cannot remember the name. I'm sorry. :(

The important thing is, we got reconnected. We've shared our own dramas in life. (Who doesn't?!) Its a good feeling that you know you still have friends who are genuinely interested on what is going with your life. I guess if you have people like this in your life, you have to hold-on tight and don't ever let them go, because genuine friendships are one of those investments that do not cost you money but the returns are high.

My Squidoo Lens - Entertainment Amazon

Hi y'all! The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs in which one tries to escape over the side, but is relentlessly pulled down by the others in the pot.

This term is broadly associated with short-sighted, non-constructive thinking rather than a unified, long-term, constructive mentality. It is also often used colloqially in reference to individuals or communities attempting to "escape" a so-called "underprivileged life", but kept from doing so by those others of the same community or nation attempting to ride upon their coat-tails or who simply resent their success.

Definition Source: Wikipedia.com
****************

I'm sorry I have to copy and paste some things here, I just want you guys to fully understand what the topic today is all about.

I was in college when I had a tiff with my older female cousin, I was 18 then and she was 34, I think. I overheard her saying this, "Next time Len's mom called, tell her she's pregnant!" It took me a sec to tick like a bomb! I confronted her right there and then, infront of my Aunt, (my mom's elder sister). In the middle of that chaotic argument (with a splash of yelling, name calling, bad-mouthing..etc, but no physical contact)I understood what she was trying to do. She was labelling me for the things I didn't do, discrediting me for all the good things I am trying to accomplish.

There I was, doing the best I can to reach my goals in life, while she was silently rooting me down from the very first day I step foot at their house. She never had the chance to finish her degree because she got pregnant at 19. She's pretty, she got an offer to be a commercial tv ads model before she got herself pregnant during her college days.

After a week of that storm, I moved-out and got myself an apartment. Now, little by little, we are trying to patch things up, its too heavy to hold grudges.

Now, history repeats itself. Its also happening to my youngest sister. She is a graduating BSN (Nursing degree) student. The person who is trying to pull her down is our Aunt (our father's little sister). Our Aunt got married while she was on her attachment period (in a random hospital picked by the university) during her college days.

Its really painful to think that the people whom you expected to be cheering for you are the ones hoping that someday you will go to hades.

***********************

In different cultures

For Filipinos, crab mentality is the tendency to "outdo another at the other's expense"[1] or to "pull down those who strive to be better."An overzealous leader becomes morally shamed. It "became a call for community leaders to acknowledge indebtedness to others and to work for the good of the entire community and not just for themselves."

In Hawaii, it is known as the 'alamihi syndrome, an 'alamihi being a local black crab. Hawaiians are criticized behaving like 'alamihi, which "always manage to pull down the ones who are trying to climb up and over the sides of a bucket."[4] Similar analogies are used against natives in other areas, such as Maoris in New Zealand, coastal Indians in Canada and the United States, and Chamorros in Guam.

It has been suggested that African Americans have inherited a cultural crab mentality based on a "doomsday mentality," because in times of slavery and segregation it was difficult, if not impossible to for them to use education even after it had been acquired.

Article source: Wikipedia

Good Intentions

It's really disappointing sometimes when your good intentions are not interpreted the way it should be. I went to Chinatown to buy some gift souvenirs for relatives and of course, the famous Bakkwa or Ba gua. After getting everything that I need, my next stop is Orchard (Singapore's Shopping Hub). I was so lazy to walk to the nearest MRT so I've decided to take a cab instead. It's quite difficult to get a cab from there because its a busy place so I have to jump on the first available taxi that will come. It just happened that the cab that I got was old and also the driver ... on his fifty or more. Singaporeans doesn't look like their age, they look a lot younger. As I went in, I was really concerned that he will not understand me or that I assumed that he doesn't speak English plus the fact that the vehicle is really old, I also assumed it will take ages for me to reach Takashimaya (its a Mall). So, when I told him my destination, I was like on an elaborated manner of pronouncing the words that I am saying. I was really surprised because when he spoke, he's rather fluent! He's a Chinese Singaporean. And the fact that I learned this road shortcut's from Chinatown to Orchard rd from him. Oh my goodness, my trip was so fast!

I was really ashamed of myself, and was really making fun of myself. Of course I did not forget to thank him for such a pleasant ride. So, never, ever underestimate old taxi drivers because obviously they've already mastered their craft!

*Bakkwa or Ba gua - is a Chinese salty-sweet dried meat product similar to jerky, made in the form of flat thin sheets. It is normally made from pork. But now, they also offer Chicken and Beef.

Beauty Treatment Spa

I mentioned about body wrap treatment on my previous post, if ever you are here in Singapore, try to visit Afond Spa House. I personally love their packages, very cost-effective, staff are friendly and well-mannered and their therapists are so gentle and polite. As a matter of fact, my husband and I, are one of their regular couple customers, we even bought a package that is consumable for a year.

We all live busy lives and we owe it to ourselves to at least pamper our body and spirit into these heavenly indulgences once in awhile. They also have Spa house in Holland Village.

http://www.afondspa.com/

Water Retention before the Monthly Period

Water Retention is that bloated feeling before the monthly period. According to researchers, about 85% of women suffers from this kind of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. But isn't it a bother that you have to suffer this every single month of your menstrual life? But experts on this field say that there are some forms of changes and medications which will help minimize such problem.

Lifestyle Changes

Taking care of your self is the most inexpensive way of minimizing the water retention problem, do your regular exercise and as much as possible, stay away from salty diet. Yes it works, I did some research on this before because I personally suffer from this PMS syndrome. One more thing that worked for me is undergoing a body wrap in a spa house. :D No kidding, after every treatment, I really feel so slim!

Medications (through Mayoclinic.com)

* Diuretics. Sometimes called water pills, these medications help rid your body of sodium and water by making your kidneys excrete more sodium in urine. They are available in over-the-counter formulations, such as pamabrom (Aquaban), or stronger prescription pills. But long-term use of these fluid reducers can cause electrolyte abnormalities or even kidney damage.

* Over-the-counter PMS treatments. These medicines (Midol, Pamprin) usually contain some combination of mild diuretics, pain relievers, antihistamines and caffeine. So they can treat a range of PMS symptoms. However, if your main symptom is water retention, you may not need all of the active ingredients in these medications.

* Over-the-counter pain relievers. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) and naproxen (Aleve), may alleviate physical symptoms that occur with PMS. If you experience abdominal cramps along with bloating, acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) also may help.

* Birth control pill (oral contraceptive). If you have severe water retention and cramping, your doctor may recommend a low-dose oral contraceptive. These medicines prevent ovulation, which can reduce the physical symptoms of PMS.

**************

If you feel that lifestyle changes alone wont help your dilemma, before considering such over-the-counter pills, it is better to consult your doctor/physician first so they can assess your condition and prescribe the most appropriate medication that will suit your body's needs.

Contents on "Medications" are based on: MayoClinic.com

Nigella - TSM's favorite food channel

I think there's only one Lady - Chef I love watching on cable TV, and she's non-other than Nigella Lawson. From the Singapore Armed Forces to the Elite Special Forces plus thousands of policemen are deployed everywhere. Some of them are positioned to several exit points island wide. Every car is checked, and as I watched it from the TV, these police checkers would have wanted to turn every car upside - down ...

But how could this terrorist-turned-escape-artist could disappear from such restricted facility? I cannot describe how this building looks inside but in a civil citizen's perspective I would imagine - at least a hundred armed guards are positioned everywhere inside, the facility has concrete walls and each cell would probably has small window with bars and barbwires. Well, I have seen a prison here from the outside, there are like two to three levels of wall-like-barbwires surrounding the compound, mind you, it looks like they change this barbwires every 3 months because they always looks new! I mean its really impossible to escape from it. But HOW??? That is the burning question, isn't it?!

And the news say, he is walking in a limp. Did he get help? Oh my goodness, from whom? Scary questions, right? Well, I know, authorities wouldn't tolerate this. The rental costs are way up to the charts! You will not believe how costly it is to rent a simple hdb unit. And dont even start to ask about the private condominiums, the prices will go way over your head. For those people who share flat units, maybe its fine with them, but what about those who prefer to live by themselves, say for instance, a family? I do not know if this is just because of those greedy, self-centered, painstaking housing agents who just want to earn easy bucks... its all ridiculous!

There will come a time when people here will need to have 2 or more jobs just to keep up, and I will not be surprised.

Saying that, I remember one instance when I went to this small clinic to get some medications for myself ... the doctor has to get a drop of my blood for examination purposes. They have this cute little pink skin poker thingys, instead of the traditional way of using the syringe, they use the other for which they say, to make the process whole lot easier ... oh well, guess what, the doctor doesn't know how to use it! He had to call his partner using his mobile phone while I was there unbelievably staring at him ... but still, the call didn't help so he had to do the traditional syringe way, but... BUT ... here's the rub .... you'll never believe this... after the blood session, his other mobile phone rang and the caller was asking about a residential property ... the doctor is also a house agent! Oh my god. He was like looking at me with a facial expression I couldn't describe, I can sense that he was not comfortable so he just told the person on the other line that she called up a wrong number, but then, before saying so, he already asked what kind of house she was looking for ... what a dumber! I bet he lost that client of his! hahaha ....

What can you say about that huh? I'm not kidding... it really happened and that is the last time I visited that clinic. I really want to say the name but, you know, I have to hold myself back.

Going back to the rising standard of living here, despite of this, I still love Singapura! :D

Friendster with Benefit

Since I started this blog site, almost every minute and every second of the day, all I think about is what to write in it. I talk much lesser now (like it's a good thing though, huh! or is it?) because I just like to observe everything, especially people. I am surprised because there are really much to learn just by being in the background. And I think my hubby is kind'a liking this blogging thing ... he would say, "Just do your blog instead of checking out your Friendster!" Hahahaha ... No offense to the Friendster management though, he has nothing against Friendster, in fact we both have Friendster profile. But he's been like this even to other things, he's been like the "Prioritize this and then that ... Guru"! I would just tell him, "Honey, Friendster is a great outlet for advertising my blog, dont you think?!" Hahaha ... Singapore is known to have a very tight security enforced islandwide, I bet this scumbag will not go any further. Singapore is a small place and its residents are well-informed and proactive. But nevertheless, I still feel a little bit agitated by this news. Since this is such a small country, who knows, I could be eating with him in one of the hawker centres here. Hahaha ... nah ... his face is everywhere, sooner or later he will fall.

Just in case you haven't been here, and you're wondering what is a hawker centre, its just a foodcourt packed with different food stalls serving different kinds of food ... from the very well known "Chicken Rice", Hokkien, Mee Goreng, Roti Prata ... down to western delights such as french fries, burgers and fried chicken wings. And the good part is its very affordable. You can buy as little as SGD $1.50, (US $1.07), very cheap, right?! And the servings are good for two people, if you are light eater but nevertheless you will be stuffed.

I just hoped I have pictures right here. I keep on educating myself about this topics because for some time now, I've been egging to launch my own online business. But then again, just like any other conventional businesses where you have the physical store, built with the whole stock - inventories and employees to worry about, it is not easy to start. You see, I do not have any solid experience about this. My area of study is far-beyond business management. I am totally a newbie on this endeavor. That is why I have to equip myself with everything that I need.

This full-packed informational ebook opened my eyes into the wide world of Marketing and Advertising. Now I know why Marketing is really a separate degree, it's not that easy. But then again, there are resources available which could really help, at least to start at something. I only read it once, and now I am on my 2nd time and most probably there would be a third and a fourth until I mastered the things discussed.

I would totally recommend this book to everyone especially to those who are keen on learning about Marketing. Or even if you are already an experienced Marketer or Advertiser. This is not the first Marketing book I have read but I would say the best among them. The author introduced one-of-a-kind Marketing approach, very unique and fresh. This is really a great resource.

The title of the ebook is "The Renegade Network Marketer" by Ann Sieg. If you are interested to see this phenomenal ebook, you can click the title of the book, you will be automatically redirected to her website.

But then again, do always drop by on this Sleepy Mom's blog domain. :)

The Devoured

Everyone of us is unique. No one is exactly the same, even identical twins do not think alike. But why do we end-up like being a carbon copy of someone else, most likely our parents? For me, its called family genes acquisition. Never heard of it? Yeah I know, because I just made it up. But of course, somebody must have think of this before, and with all due respect I did not meant to copy anything, I never even tried to Google this words.. it just came across my mind while I was brainstorming myself. For some of us, acquiring some of our parent's ideals and characteristics are blessings, but to some, its like a hand-me-down curse. The latter one is the case for me. You see, my parents are responsible people, they gave everything they can to give us the lives they never had and I am really grateful that I have parents built this way. But digging into their lives, I have come to realize what kind of lives they had gone through themselves. That is why, I do not blame them for passing on some "curses" which were most likely had been passed-on to them by their parents and who knows how long has this been going on! Maybe they did not had the leisure time to reflect through themselves while I was still living with them, of what might happen to me, or what I might acquire from them by showing-off those role-model like attributes and characteristics. For me, its been a battle between the things I have acquired and the things I wanted to become. I wanted this to stop. I will be the end of this negative-thinking-phenomena, the "curse" that has been passed on from generation to generation in my family. The storm that devoured everyone in my family tree.

How will I do this? Do the exact opposite on what they do. I am striving to be the most positive thinker that I ever met in my life. And its like a battle. An everyday battle that I have to face from dusk 'till dawn. But I am doing it. Proud to say I am. I will be posting this books that I am talking about soon. I just have to compile it in a way that will be easier for you to browse on.

The Long Awaited Start!

At last ... its here.
